Kim Wan-sun Referred to Prosecution for Operating Unregistered Agency
Gyeonggi Yongin Dongbu Police Station has referred singer Kim Wan-sun and her agency's corporate entity to the prosecution on charges of violating the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act. Kim is accused of operating a one-person agency established in 2020 without registering as a popular culture and arts entertainment planner.
According to current law, individuals or entities wishing to engage in popular culture and arts planning, such as entertainment agencies, must register with the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Failure to do so and operating an unregistered business can result in imprisonment for up to two years or a fine of up to 20 million won.
Agency States 'Registration Completed Within Grace Period'
Kim Wan-sun's agency has acknowledged the facts related to this case. However, the agency stated that because they completed all registration procedures within the grace period, they believe the matter will not pose a significant problem. This case is one of several recent instances where various celebrities have faced controversy for operating one-person agencies or family corporations without proper registration.
