Indian Parliament Debates Attack on Farooq Abdullah; Ruling Party Dismisses Opposition Criticism
Opposition Raises Concerns Over Attack on Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister
A heated debate erupted in India's Rajya Sabha concerning an attempted attack on former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah. Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, raised concerns about the security of Jammu and Kashmir citizens in connection with the incident, questioning whether the government was intentionally neglecting the situation. He pointed out that unlike when Jammu and Kashmir held state status, law and order have now collapsed, attributing this to the central government's failure in security control.
Ruling Party Retaliates, Calling It 'Congress Instigation'
In response, JP Nadda, a BJP MP in the Rajya Sabha, strongly condemned the attack on Farooq Abdullah but dismissed Mallikarjun Kharge's remarks as mere 'instigation' by the Congress Party. Nadda criticized the Congress Party for allegedly having orchestrated similar 'conspiracies' in Jammu and Kashmir in the past, referencing the mysterious death of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee. He asserted that this 'mindset' of the Congress Party existed historically, emphasizing that it is incorrect to blame the current situation on the government.
