PM Takaichi Holds Phone Talks with Iranian President, Emphasizing 'Early Agreement'

Prime Minister Takaichi held her third phone conversation with Iranian President Pezeshkian. During the talks, Prime Minister Takaichi conveyed to Iran her hope for a swift agreement regarding negotiations to end combat with the United States. She also stated that "calming the situation through dialogue is of utmost importance, and Japan reiterates this position."
Demand for Free Passage in Strait of Hormuz
During the meeting, Prime Minister Takaichi strongly urged Iran to ensure that vessels from all nations can pass through the Strait of Hormuz freely and safely. In response, President Pezeshkian explained Iran's perspective, including future outlooks, and both leaders agreed to continue close communication going forward.

Following the talks, Prime Minister Takaichi emphasized that the "government will actively pursue diplomatic efforts," reaffirming Japan's role in regional stability and peace.
