Ahmedabad-Colombo Direct Flights to Boost Sri Lanka Tourism
Enhanced Connectivity for Western India
Sri Lanka has significantly bolstered its connectivity with Western India through the launch of direct flights to Ahmedabad. Previously, direct flights from Western India, apart from Mumbai, were scarce. The new route cuts travel time to just 3 hours and 10 minutes, drastically improving accessibility. Currently, there are almost 147 weekly flights between Sri Lanka and South India, facilitating robust exchanges.
USD 1.3 Billion Investment and Market Potential
Nalaka Amaratunga, CEO of John Keells Holdings, stated that Sri Lanka is developing unique tourism products specifically for the Indian market. He highlighted a USD 1.3 billion investment in Sri Lanka, describing it as a one-of-a-kind tourism development project in South Asia. This investment is anticipated to elevate Sri Lanka's tourism infrastructure, significantly contributing to attracting Indian tourists.
