US Missile Stockpile Depleted After Iran War, Years to Replenish
Severe Depletion of Missile Stockpiles After Iran War
The extensive use of missiles in the war with Iran has come at a great cost to the United States, severely depleting its primary missile stockpiles. According to a Defense Express report, even if defense factories increase production and secure sufficient orders, it will take years for Washington to replenish these weapons. This situation has left Ukraine in a precarious position, metaphorically "sitting on a powder keg."
Long Recovery Period for Patriot and Tomahawk Missile Inventories
Research by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) indicates that it will take approximately three years for the United States to restore its Patriot missile inventory to pre-war levels. The recovery for Tomahawk cruise missiles and THAAD interceptor missiles is expected to take even longer. CSIS stated that these calculations are based on existing budget and production plan data, assuming successful expansion of production capacity and fulfillment of all orders. The Patriot missile inventory is projected to return to its early 2026 level only around mid-2029, while Tomahawk missiles are not expected to be fully replenished until late 2030 or early 2031.
