Construction has begun on the White House South Lawn for a UFC fight event slated for June 14, coinciding with President Donald Trump's 80th birthday. A massive lighting grid, referred to by UFC as 'The Claw,' is being assembled to span over the octagon where the fight will take place. This structure, originating from Belgium, was fabricated in Pennsylvania and subsequently shipped to Washington D.C. for reconstruction.

Ticket Allocation and Criticisms

Approximately one-third of the tickets for the event are reserved for military members and their families, another third for White House staff and their families, and the final third for VIPs, with UFC also distributing an additional 200 tickets. The White House's decision to host this UFC event has drawn criticism, including from Governor Gavin Newsom's press office and UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan. Rogan described the fight as 'a gimmick' and raised 'security concerns,' although he still plans to attend. President Trump, responding to the criticism, stated that 'Life is a gimmick... But it’s a good gimmick... I think it’s great for America, frankly.'
