Hong Kong Hospital Authority (HA) Announces Caller ID Change

The Hong Kong Hospital Authority (HA) announced that from November 29, hospitals and clinics will change their outgoing caller ID numbers to a 7-digit number starting with '18285' or '18286', replacing the previous numbers that began with 2 or 3. This measure aims to protect citizens from spam and scam calls and improve the call connection rate for the hospitals. Hospital officials explained that many citizens previously mistook calls from numbers starting with 2 or 3 as promotional or fraudulent calls, leading them to ignore important communications. The new numbers are expected to help identify legitimate public health calls.

New Numbering System and Allocation for Local Hospitals

The HA has secured a total of 200 lines and will allocate specific number ranges to various hospitals and clinics across Hong Kong. For example, Queen Mary Hospital will use numbers in the '18285 11X' range, while Tsuen Wan Hospital will use numbers in the '18285 9XX' range. This system will allow citizens to easily identify which hospital is calling them based on the caller ID. It is important to note that contact numbers listed on hospital websites and other official channels will remain unchanged; only the caller ID for outgoing calls will reflect the new numbers.

Emphasis on Talent Cultivation in Education

Meanwhile, Chief Executive John Lee emphasized the government's efforts to develop Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology hub at the Hong Kong Outstanding Teacher Commendation Ceremony. He announced the establishment of the Education-Technology-Talent Committee to support this goal. Lee urged teachers to recognize their educational mission and cultivate talent with sound values and high moral character. He called on teachers to uphold professional educational ideals, maintain the original spirit of education, and nurture the next generation with a global vision and innovative thinking to produce talent for both the nation and Hong Kong.
