Marikina River Water Level Rises, Alert Issued
The Marikina City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) in the Philippines issued an orange alert at 3:21 PM local time as the water level in the Marikina River reached 16 meters. This measure warns residents to prepare for potential flooding and to be ready to evacuate. An alert is issued when the river level reaches 15 meters, and it will be escalated to a red alert if it reaches 18 meters.
Evacuation Procedures and Precautions
With the issuance of the orange alert, Marikina City authorities are advising residents in nearby areas to remain vigilant about changes in river levels and to complete evacuation preparations. If the river level rises further, triggering a red alert, immediate evacuation should be carried out. Currently, the situation is at the evacuation preparedness stage, and river level fluctuations are continuously being monitored.
