AI Advancement Leads to Sophisticated Financial Fraud, Rapid AI Adoption by Korean Workers
AI Era: Increasing Financial Fraud and the Importance of Digital Trust
The advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology presents innovative opportunities for the financial system but simultaneously makes financial fraud more sophisticated and organized, creating new security risks. At the 'Digital Financial Trust 2026' forum held in Hanoi, Vietnam, Pham The Tung, Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Public Security, emphasized that digital trust is the ultimate factor determining growth in the AI era. Pham Tien Dung, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, also noted that while AI offers significant opportunities for the banking industry, such as improving operational efficiency, personalizing services, and preventing fraud and money laundering, it also brings risks. Concerns about AI models posing risks to the financial system are also growing in the United States, with Japan's Katayama, Minister of State for Financial Services, announcing plans to establish a public-private working group to discuss strengthening security measures.
Rapid Increase in AI Adoption by Korean Workers and Expanding Corporate AI Integration
According to the 'AI Diffusion Report' released by the Microsoft AI Economy Institute, the usage rate of generative AI among the global working-age population increased by 1.5 percentage points during the first quarter of 2026. Among these, Korean workers showed the fastest increase in generative AI adoption worldwide. Domestic companies are also actively utilizing AI for training new employees. As reported by ITmedia Executive, Z-generation new hires are using AI for work adaptation, such as practicing customer service with AI avatars or developing systems using AI. This indicates that companies are leveraging AI to enhance work efficiency and invest in talent development, while also recognizing the potential risks associated with AI use.
