Philippines Begins LPG Imports from US Amid Supply Shortage
Philippines Diversifies LPG Sources Amid Shortage
The Philippines has commenced importing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from the United States to address a critical supply shortage, Energy Secretary Sharon Garin confirmed on Friday. Deliveries are expected to arrive within 30-45 days. Garin stated during a radio interview with DZMM that sourcing from the US became necessary because it has become "difficult to find [LPG] here in Southeast Asia or the Middle East."
Securing Energy Supply Through New Partnerships
This move to import LPG from the United States is seen as part of the Philippines' broader strategy to ensure its energy security. Facing challenges in procuring LPG from its traditional sources in Southeast Asia and the Middle East, the Philippine government has actively sought alternative suppliers. This new partnership with the US aims to stabilize the domestic LPG market and secure a more reliable energy supply for the nation.
