Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser provided an update on an incident that occurred at approximately 8:36 PM tonight at the Washington Hilton Hotel, the site of the White House Correspondents' Dinner. President Donald Trump returned safely to the White House as planned.
Secret Service Agent Injured, Suspect Apprehended
According to Mayor Bowser, a sole gunman rushed a Secret Service checkpoint in a lobby at the hotel. A Secret Service agent was injured and transported to a local hospital where they are receiving care. The suspect was also transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Mayor Bowser expressed gratitude to the members of law enforcement who secured the area and ensured the safety of all guests.
