Government to Fully Adopt 'HWPX' for Public Documents, Boosting AI Utilization
Public Document Distribution to Fully Transition to 'HWPX'
The South Korean government has announced a complete shift in its public sector document distribution structure to the open-format 'HWPX' to align with the artificial intelligence (AI) era. The initiative aims to restrict the use of existing 'HWP' files, which are difficult for AI to interpret, in public channels, thereby increasing the efficiency of administrative data utilization.
Restriction of HWP File Attachments in Key Document Channels
The National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee, in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, plans to limit HWP file attachments in major document distribution channels such as the Onnara System and integrated public official email. This measure is intended to enable more effective utilization of public data through AI technology.
