National Radio Research Agency Leads Establishment of AI Advisory Group
The National Radio Research Agency announced that it spearheaded the establishment of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) advisory group, proposed by Korea, at the '49th ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 6 International Standardization Meeting' held in Seoul. Approximately 60 experts from over 10 countries participated in the meeting to discuss the standardization of next-generation inter-system communication and information exchange interfaces. The National Radio Research Agency will co-convene the newly established advisory group, 'AG-AI', with China, taking a leading role in its operation.
Strengthening International Standardization Leadership
The newly formed AG-AI will review standardization policies for communication infrastructure technologies within SC 6, analyze inter-technology linkages and standardization gaps. It is expected to lead key AI-related standardization agendas through the development of strategic roadmaps. Additionally, the National Radio Research Agency will also serve as the convener for the Networks, Transmission and Future Networks Working Group (WG7), further solidifying its leading position in international standardization in the network interface domain.
Supporting International Standardization of Domestic Innovative Technologies
President Chung Chang-rim stated that the agency would continue to support the adoption of innovative technologies from domestic industry, academia, and research institutions as international standards. This aims to enhance global competitiveness of Korean companies and foster the creation of new markets. This initiative is expected to lay the groundwork for Korean AI and communication technologies to play a pivotal role in international standardization and enter global markets.
