TMC's Abhishek Banerjee Criticizes 'Law and Order' by Citing Manipur Violence
Manipur Violence and Government Criticism
Abhishek Banerjee, an MP from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), responded to questions about the recent Malda incident and the law and order situation in West Bengal by citing the events in Manipur. He questioned, "Have you seen Manipur? Do you know what happened a couple of months ago? Do you know how many bulletproof vehicles were deployed there?" Banerjee claimed that violence has not ceased in Manipur for three years, and recently, "a man's severed head was found on the roadside," highlighting the government's alleged incompetence.
Criticism of BJP's 'Law and Order' Model and West Bengal Situation
Abhishek Banerjee criticized this situation as the BJP's law and order model. He stated that the BJP claims it will improve law and order, but urged them to "first establish law and order in their own governed state, Manipur." He further suggested that if these vehicles were sent to Bihar, the violence would stop, implying that the government is creating threats similar to sending vehicles to Pakistan or Bangladesh. Banerjee asserted that the government is using all means to intimidate the people of West Bengal, stating, "You create fear and then talk about trust." He concluded by saying, "The government is creating fear and then presenting an illusion of trust."
