Trump Issues Ultimatum to Iran, Threatens Attacks on Energy Facilities
Trump's Ultimatum to Iran and Special Forces Operation Announcement
U.S. President Donald Trump has warned Iran that it will face attacks on energy facilities and bridges if it fails to open the Strait of Hormuz, setting a new deadline. Trump told The Wall Street Journal in an interview that Iran has until Tuesday evening, Eastern Time, to comply. Earlier, on Sunday, Trump announced that U.S. special forces had rescued a wounded airman in a high-risk mission deep inside the mountains of Iran. The airman sustained injuries but Trump stated he would 'be just fine,' indicating no issues with recovery.
Israel's Preparations for Attack on Iran and Iran's Counter-Response
Washington's ally, Israel, is preparing to attack Iranian energy facilities next week and is awaiting U.S. approval, according to a senior Israeli defense official. Video posted on Saturday showed heavy black smoke, likely the aftermath of an Israeli strike, on an Iranian petrochemical plant. Meanwhile, Iran demonstrated its continued capability to launch cross-border attacks, striking infrastructure in the Gulf. In Haifa, northern Israel, an Iranian missile hit a residential building, injuring nine people with shrapnel and blast injuries. Tehran is demanding an end to hostilities, with Iran's parliamentary speaker condemning Trump's threats and stating that he is being misled by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
