Suwon City AI Policy Announcement and Implementation Plan
Suwon City has established the first AI department at the bureau level among local governments and announced its vision to realize a 'citizen-centric AI leading city' by investing 4.9 billion won this year. Oh Min-beom, Director of Suwon City's AI Smart Policy Bureau, stated at a press conference at the city council on March 31 that the AI policy was announced to actively respond to the rapidly evolving era of AI, which goes beyond simple chat tools.
Three Major Goals and Key Projects
Suwon City has set the direction of its AI policy as 'realizing an AI basic society of inclusion, innovation, tangible experience, and trust,' with three main goals: realizing AI basic rights for all citizens, fostering an AI industry ecosystem, and innovating AI-based administration. To achieve this, the city plans to carry out a total of 31 AI-related projects, divided into organizational areas such as the AI Citizens' Bureau, AI Industry Bureau, AI Administration Bureau, and AI Education and Talent Nurturing.
Specifically, the AI Citizens' Bureau will be responsible for establishing AI-based disaster and safety prevention systems, drone delivery for Gwanggyo walking paths using physical AI, and robot patrols. In the transportation sector, in connection with the Suwon Free Economic Zone, the city plans to prepare for the introduction of advanced future transportation methods such as Urban Air Mobility (UAM), Trackless Electric Trams (TRT), and autonomous driving.
