Middle East Conflict and Trump's 'Constructive Talks' Claim

Donald Trump, the US President, threatened to bomb Iran's energy infrastructure if the Strait of Hormuz was not reopened, then quickly postponed the attacks, claiming 'constructive talks' were underway. However, Iran denied any dialogue, dismissing Trump's statement as a ruse to stabilize oil prices. Professor Mohammad Marandi of the University of Tehran stated that Iran has no plans to negotiate with the Americans and would retaliate much harder if the US struck Iranian power plants. He added that if the US uses its bases in Gulf partner countries for attacks, those nations would also face severe punishment.

The Future of the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's Stance

The passage through the Strait of Hormuz will not be as free as before until Iran's demands are met, stated Iranian diplomat Seyed Abbas Aragchi. Iran did not start the war, and attacks on civilian targets like schools and hospitals in Palestine by Israel are crimes against humanity. Professor Marandi emphasized that Iran's missile and drone capabilities are intact, well-protected in underground facilities, and its navy also maintains weapons and missiles in underground tunnel bases along the coasts of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

The Nuclear Program and US Miscalculations

Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have consistently claimed that Iran is on the verge of producing nuclear weapons. However, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian asserted that nuclear weapons are religiously forbidden, and no Iranian official is permitted to pursue their development. Professor Marandi noted that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has never provided any evidence that Iran has ever pursued nuclear weapons at any point in its history. He stressed that the West's attempts to suppress Iran's independence are futile.
