Iran-Suspected Drone Attack Hits US-Italian Base in Kuwait
Drone Attack on Ali Al Salem Base in Kuwait
On March 15, 2026, the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, which houses US and Italian troops, came under a suspected Iranian drone attack. The incident resulted in the destruction of an Italian remotely piloted aircraft. Italy’s Joint Operational Command stated that it is continuously monitoring developments, and no casualties have been reported.
Iran's Increased Threats Against US Bases
The Ali Al Salem Base serves as a central logistical and operational hub in the West Asia region for US and coalition forces. Iran has stated it will intensify attacks on US bases and other establishments following the attacks on Kharg Island. This marks the second major loss for Italy, as on March 12, a missile also struck an Italian base in Erbil, Iraq. While the drone attack on Ali Al Salem Base is suspected to be from Iran, it is not yet officially confirmed.
