Iran-US Relations Enter 'Final Battle' Phase
Iran Faces the 'Final Battle'
An analysis suggests that Iran-US relations have entered a 'final battle' phase. Vali Nasr, an Iranian-American author, highlighted that Iran has never considered laying down its weapons and making peace with the United States and Israel. Instead, Iran has been determined to fight, which is a consequence of the strategy pursued by Ayatollah Khamenei and Khomeini. Nasr explained that Iran views the United States as a 'threat to Iran' and has sought to expel the US from the Middle East to protect its sovereignty. He noted that this strategy has proven extremely costly for Iran.
Existential Crisis for the Iranian Regime
Nasr argued that the current situation represents an 'existential' threat for the Iranian regime. Iran is struggling economically and is continuously attacked by Israel and the United States on its own soil, particularly since the collapse of Hezbollah and Syria. He stated that 47 years of resistance to the United States is no longer sustainable, and Iran has reached a final stand where either resistance collapses or manages to change the rules of the game. This indicates that the Iranian regime is cornered.
