Nationwide Spring Rain and Precipitation Forecast

South Korea is expecting nationwide spring rain today. Currently, rain is falling in southern Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, Honam, western Yeongnam, and Jeju Island, with cloud cover gradually expanding to include all areas, including Seoul. The rain is expected to mostly clear by late afternoon, but will continue until night in Gyeongnam coastal areas and Jeju. Anticipated precipitation includes up to 60mm in Jeju mountains, a maximum of 30mm on the southern coast, 5-20mm in southern inland regions, and 5-10mm in central regions including Seoul. In particular, 1-5cm of snow is expected to accumulate in the high mountainous areas of Gangwon where temperatures are low.

Fine Dust and Tomorrow's Weather Outlook

While the rain will help clear fine dust in southern regions, central regions are projected to experience 'poor' average daily air quality due to atmospheric stagnation. Seoul and southern Gyeonggi may even see 'very poor' levels at times in the morning. Current temperatures are 8 degrees Celsius in Seoul and 4.4 degrees Celsius in Sejong, with southern regions showing temperatures around 10 degrees Celsius. Tomorrow, the country will be mostly clear with significant diurnal temperature ranges. Morning temperatures will be below zero in most areas, and frost is expected in central and Honam inland regions. Strong winds are also forecast for Jeju from this morning, with waves reaching up to 3.5m in the offshore waters of Jeju and the eastern offshore waters of the South Sea.
