Yi Folk Song 'Don't Be Afraid'
Mo Se Wusha and Ergu Wurimo, eighth-grade students from Xiangrong Middle School in Xide County, Daliang Mountains, Sichuan Province, China, sang the Yi folk song 'Don't Be Afraid (Ap Jie Lop).' This song conveys a message of not being afraid despite the changes of seasons, the flow of time, and the various difficulties of life. The students delivered beautiful harmonies amidst the natural landscape of yellow rapeseed flowers and green fields.
Message of Life's Joys and Sorrows, and Hope
The song begins by describing seasonal changes: 'The wind has risen, the rain is falling, buckwheat leaves have fallen, and tree leaves have turned yellow.' It then emphasizes facing challenges with courage and hope, repeating 'Don't be afraid' even when 'moods fluctuate, years pass with vicissitudes, and wounds are painful or hardships great.' The video intertwines beautiful natural scenery with scenes of a developing town and people going about their daily lives, further enhancing the song's profound message.
