US Strikes Iran Oil Targets, Deploys Marines to Middle East
US Strikes Military Targets on Kharg Island
At the direction of the United States Central Command, the U.S. carried out strikes on several military targets located on Kharg Island, Iran's main oil hub. This island, situated approximately 15 miles off the coast, handles roughly 90% of Iran's crude oil exports. President Donald Trump stated that this was one of the most powerful bombing raids in the history of the Middle East. Iran has warned that it will target U.S.-linked oil facilities in the region if any of its energy infrastructure is damaged.
Marines Deployment and President Trump's Statement
Meanwhile, 2,500 Marines and the amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli have been ordered to deploy to the Middle East. President Trump asserted that many countries affected by Iran's attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait would send warships to keep the Strait open and safe. He also claimed that the U.S. has already destroyed 100% of Iran's military capability, emphasizing that Iran will never possess a nuclear weapon and will not have the ability to threaten the United States of America or the Middle East.
