Mohommad Nazeer Paktyawal, an Afghan immigrant who previously worked with the US military in Afghanistan, died this weekend in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody. This occurred less than 24 hours after he was detained in Texas, according to a US veteran-led advocacy group on Sunday.
Asylum Case Pending at Time of Death
Paktyawal had been living in a Dallas suburb with his wife and six children while his asylum case remained pending. He was arrested by federal agents outside his flat on Friday morning.
