Indian Sailors Stranded in Iran War Zone 'Anxious' to Return Home
Indian Sailors Stranded in Iranian Port
Indian sailor Ambuj and dozens of others have been stranded for two weeks at Iran's Bandar Abbas port, unable to return home. Ambuj, who has not been home for six months, expressed his deep desire to see his family, requesting his last name not be used for security reasons. The Middle East maritime region is currently a high-risk area due to military tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel.
Escalating Middle East Conflict Fuels Sailors' Anxiety
Ambuj is one of approximately 23,000 Indian sailors working on merchant, harbor, and offshore vessels across the wider Gulf region. This area is directly bearing the brunt of the war between Iran and the United States and Israel. With nearby ships ablaze due to drone and missile attacks, the Indian sailors are reportedly experiencing significant anxiety.
