Baghdad Holds Funeral Procession for US Airstrike Victims, Condemns US and Israel
Funeral Procession and Condemnations
A large funeral procession was held in Baghdad, Iraq, for members of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) killed in a U.S. airstrike. A massive crowd waved flags and chanted slogans around the funeral vehicles, mourning the victims.
Citizen Haidar Sultan, who participated in the procession, criticized the attack as reflecting U.S. arrogance and asserted that U.S. President Donald Trump has plunged the United States into a quagmire of war and conflict.
Criticism of Regional Conflict Incitement
Sultan also fiercely denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of instigating sectarianism in the region and attempting to drag it back into an era of conflict, war, and division. He added that Netanyahu seeks to turn the region into 'small states' to control them.
Those who joined the procession marched carrying various flags and portraits of figures appearing to be religious leaders, voicing strong condemnation of the airstrike.
