On March 12, 2026, two foreign tankers came under unidentified attack within Iraqi territorial waters and caught fire. Some rescued crew members from the attacked tankers were spotted at Grand Fao Port in Basra, Iraq. They were seen wearing safety uniforms, gathered on the pier or conversing with others. This incident occurred in Iraqi waters, and according to foreign reports, it is 'alleged' to be an act by Iran, raising concerns that regional tensions could escalate.
