AI Boom Era: Job Structures Undergo Rapid Transformation, Future Major Choices Pose New Challenges
AI Era Accelerates Job Structure Transformation
Professor Hoang Van Kiem (former Chairman of the National Professorship Council for Information Technology) stated that the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming global job structures. AI can perform tasks faster, cheaper, and more reliably, leading to the disappearance or sharp decline of many jobs such as repetitive coding, data entry, customer service, and basic translation. He analyzed that professions like doctors, teachers, and lawyers will see their roles completely transformed with the assistance of AI. Universities are also expanding interdisciplinary convergence education programs to enhance graduates' employment opportunities.
Promising Future Professions and the Demand for New Talent
Professor Hoang Van Kiem identified AI system designers as the most valuable profession in the future. These individuals will go beyond merely using AI to design AI systems themselves. He also predicted that individuals who combine AI with other fields such as medicine, education, and economics will emerge as a new elite class. The value of innovators with creativity and original thinking, psychologists, and human development specialists will also increase, with new professions that don't exist today, such as personal AI coaches, AI personality designers, and AI ethicists, expected to emerge within the next decade.
Tran Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Vocational Education Association, emphasized that under the influence of AI, the labor market is undergoing a strong restructuring process, shifting from quantitative to qualitative growth. According to a survey by Manpower Vietnam, over 90% of Vietnamese businesses identified ideation and creativity, problem-solving skills, and training abilities as core competencies highly likely to be replaced by AI. He pointed out that workers need to improve their digital skills, creative thinking, and ability to collaborate with AI.
