The AI Era: Deepening 'Matthew Effect'

Daisuke Imaizumi, CEO of Infracommons, expressed concerns about the social disparities AI is poised to create. He introduced the concepts of 'AI Haves' and 'AI Have-nots', coined by Palantir CEO Alex Karp, explaining that they are rooted in the Matthew Effect in management studies. This effect, originating from the teachings in the Gospel of Matthew, is projected to deepen further in the AI era.

Synergy Between 'Star Employees' and AI

Professor Matthew L. Call and his research team at Texas A&M University refuted the misconception that AI makes everyone equally capable in their paper "Star Advantage: Employee Value Creation and Capture in the Age of Artificial Intelligence." The paper argues that AI, on the contrary, reinforces the structure where 'those who have, get more.' Specifically, 'star employees' with high expertise accurately evaluate AI responses and issue precise instructions, exponentially increasing the value derived from AI.

AI Accelerates Performance Disparities

The domain knowledge synergy effect significantly widens the performance gap between regular employees and star employees. Rather than leveling job capabilities, AI amplifies the competencies of those who already possess outstanding expertise. This suggests that AI utilization ability will soon become a key indicator of productivity and value creation, and the report is scheduled to be published in the January 2026 issue of Human Resource Management.
